The most recent trip to Nebraska was difficult in many respects.  My dad is still in his downward spiral and the dizziness is increasing.  No one seems to know why my dad is dizzy – so no one knows how to treat it either.  Some of it could be related to diet – which is not as good as it could be.  He is eating too much refined and processed food.  Will need to work on getting the diet changed over time  – but for now we are giving him small changes to make.

He is not motivated to work on  walking or strength training which means that he will continue to spiral downward physically.  I can not seem to get him to understand the correlation between exercise and maintaining where he is currently at – and possibly regaining some of what he has lost.  He seems to think that  he is different than most people and that he will retain his strength even if he remains sedentary!

However we were able to get Dad out several times and people were very glad to see him out and about.  He has always been such a people person and very energized by interacting with others.  This seemed to help his mood – at least for the moment.

In between taking care of dad – we were able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather!  It was fairly cool – in the upper 70’s with cool breezes.  It was great to be out and play some Basketball wtih Garrett, run with Caleb and just take some walks through the town and enjoy the sights and sounds of the festival.  Here are some pictures from our outings:

And there has been a new addition to the family;

My sister-in-law told us,  “You don’t choose the monkey, the monkey chooses you.”  This little guy loved Geoffrey and was climbing all over him.  Geoffrey thought is was very cool!

The monkey really liked Giovanna, but she was a bit scared of him.  The monkey couldn’t figure out why she was afraid and kept trying to be friends with her.  GiGi was not convinced – but she did relax after the monkey got comfortable with all the new people and his surroundings!
