Monday 19 January found the team packing up their suitcases, loading them into a 15 passenger van and leaving Bangkok for the 2.5 hour trip to Cha Am where we would spend the next 10 days.   The Bangkok Christian Guesthouse where we spent our first days in Bangkok was lovely and a great place to ease into the culture and food.  Now it was off to the next phase of the trip.

The trip down was spent getting the team up to speed with regard to the program that we would be doing and answering questions.  After the business was concluded, we could all relax and enjoy the trip down.  The van driver was good and we were able to stop when we needed to.  Only one stop was necessary – mainly to fill up the van.   But while we were stopped, we all made a bathroom stop.  This was a squatty and it made me realize that I was really in Asia!  Seven -11 stores are on almost every corner in Bangkok and along the way.   One can get spoiled by all the “conveniences” in the city.

Arriving in Cha Am was a delight to the eyes – there were flowers and topiaries everywhere.  The Asians have such an eye for making things beautiful.  There are no doors to the hotel – just open spaces that lead to the driveway and the beach on the other side.  There was a lovely breeze coming through the main lobby and once the suitcases were unloaded and I had dropped my suitcases off in my room, I was off to check out the room and get things set up for the evening when we would meet the kids for the first time.
