December is a big month for all kinds of things. We begin the month with a birthday celebration – or should I say two birthday celebrations. Children numbers 3 and 4 were born on the same date in December, 4 years apart. So we traditionally have a birthday dinner where the birthday boys, in this case, get to invite the guests, pick the theme and plan the menu.
As Caleb has gotten older, he still looks forward to the dinner, but lets Geoffrey do most of the planning, especially when it comes to the theme. This year’s party was a bit harder to orchestrate since I was coming home from Nebraska on the day of the party. We had not gotten much planning in. So while en route home and through the use of cell phones we were able to plan the menu.
Once home, I hit the ground running – almost literally. I had presents to buy, food to buy at the grocery store, a meal to prepare and get the table set. Thankfully the kids were very helpful and did a lot of the cleaning before I got home!
This year the boys had brownies and ice cream in lieu of the traditional cake! The boys blew out their candles with ease!
